It's been snowing and/or sleeting for the past week. I spent much of my creative time revisiting unfinished personal projects in preparation for the 2021 SCBWI Winter Conference Portfolio Showcase. The sequence below was inspired by the illustrator intensive at the last in-person SCBWI conference, back in the summer of 2019. The prompt was to create three images showing a character's struggle to achieve balance. I envisioned a modern-day Goldilocks with a passion for protecting wildlife threatened by global warming. I'll let viewers decide whether her time-bending adventure succeeded (that mammoth definitely looks like it wants a tropical vacation. . .).
